When I think of design and the relation to my life, all I can say is that I was born into it. It began in seventh grade when I started my own Myspace layout business. At the time, I was also creating Neopet Guild Layouts. I didn’t know this new found hobby something I could do for the rest of my life. At the time, I was just doing something that made my soul happy. Once I graduated high school, I went to school for teaching. I’ve always LOVED teaching and the thought of it. The classes didn’t keep me intrigued so, I switched my major to business. My first class was accounting and by the first week I walked out. At that point, I didn’t know what to do. One day, a commercial came on the TV for Graphic Design and the lightbulb came on. My heart raced. Seriously!?! This hobby I’ve been doing for 6 years can actually be my career? That was it. I hit the ground running from there. As soon as I got my first design job with Minuteman Press, another light bulb turned on. I loved design but I also loved teaching. I identified the fact that I was always a leader, in everything I did. I wanted to be in control and I was great at it. I pushed my way into management and ran the print shop. Once I was in that position, I knew that for the rest of my life I would push to be the best leader, manager and trainer – no matter what company I worked for. That’s where I am now. I’m the Art and Compliance Director at a great website development and design firm. I’ve been here for 7 months and have recorded and edited my own training videos and constructed a full training program. I have trained 9 designers. I have directed and managed two different departments simultaneously: Art and Compliance. Since I stepped into the door, I have brought many innovative ideas to the table. What started as a hobby with Myspace in 2004 turned into this amazing career in 2016. I owe it all to my God given passion and determination.
